Johann Karl Mannigel (1843 1931)

Birth:
Carl Mannigel was born October 14, 1843 in Prussia. (death
certificate. California
#31-008980). He emigrated from Wilkersdorf,
Brandenburg, Prussia
so it is most likely he was born there or at least in Brandenburg,
Prussia. Wilkersdorf is
just east of the Oder River. Formerly part of Germany,
because of a World War II agreement, that land was ceded to Poland
and the Germans in that area were pushed west into Berlin. So Wilkersdorf was renamed Krzesnica in 1945.
Hand County
years
The year 1882-1883 represented the greatest migration into Hand
County [South
Dakota], and a good crop was harvested that year,
lending to the high spirits ofth epioneers.
But crops failed consistently for the next seven years. [Heidepriem,

Married Wilhelm F. Krenz (born in Germany,
immigrated from Germany
in 1880) on June 12, 1906
in Hardwick, Rock County, Minnesota
The 1920 US Census finds Louise and husband William and the
two daughters, Lucille (7) and Eleanor (5) living in New Salem, Morton County,
North Dakota. William is a traveling
salesman. Also living with them are two
young women who were schoolteachers.
In the 1930 US Census for Long
Beach City, Los
Angeles County, California,
Louise is living there with her husband Wilhelm with their two daughters,
Lucille M.(17) and Eleanor J.(15). Louise and her husband own a grocery
store.
Two children:
Lucille Myra, born June 15, 1912 in North Dakota. Married
Robert McKee. Three
daughers. Died October 12, 2002.
Eleanor J., born April 11, 1914 in North Dakota. Married
Ralph Day. Married
Gordon Fyock. Died
February 1,
1970.
